          In this statement by Thomas S. Monson what I think it means is life shouldn’t be about surpassing others, but it should be to make a better person of yourself. For example you shouldn’t want to be rich and successful because you want to have more money that someone and be better but be rich and successful for yourself. Don’t set your goals out of greed. 

Allopathic Physician

Duties and Responsibilities:

            Physicians examine patients; obtain medical histories; order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe and administer treatment for people suffering from injury or disease.  They counsel patients about illness, injuries, health conditions and preventive healthcare (diet/fitness, smoking cessation, etc.). They can also conduct medical research, teach and run medical centers. 

Salary:

            $180,850 per year.

Education:

While the minimum educational requirement to apply for medical school is three years of college, most applicants have at least a bachelor's degree and many have advanced degrees. 

           

Reflection: I personally would not want to be one because the job just does not interest me.

          In this quote by Og Mandino, I think what it means that wealth does not come in shapes and sizes but it comes from you. Anyone can get an expensive product and try to be considered wealthy but true wealth is on you and how you choose to live your life. 

Allergist / Immunologist

Allergist / Immunologist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Examines and treats disorders and diseases of the immune system. Prescribes and administers patient medications. Performs a variety of laboratory procedures, examines sample tissues, and uses various biological and chemical analyses to identify harmful organisms or pathological conditions. Determine the appropriate course of treatment for patients.

Salary:

$225,814 a year.  

Education: 

Requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. May require at least 2-4 years of immunology/allergy experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Reflection:

            I would maybe consider this career because it pays a good. It is a high paying job. I also would choose this career for the sake of helping people. I also would want to do it because I have family that go to these and I would also like to be a help.

In this quote by Sterling W. Sill tells that wealth is not based on objects or what we have. Money isn’t all to being wealthy. Wealth does not make you, for the person you truly are. 

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Duties and Responsibilities:

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical art practiced for more than 5,000 years. It involves inserting fine needles at points on the body's surface to influence physiological functions. Acupuncture practitioners treat a wide range of physical and psychological conditions and provide support for patients with chronic diseases.

Salary:  

                Around $41,361 a year.

Education:

               

                Most licensed acupuncturists hold master's degrees or post-baccalaureate certificates from schools accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.  Most programs require 1,500-2,000 hours of acupuncture training and take 3-4 years to complete. Graduates must pass the certification exam offered by NCCAOM and fulfill any additional state licensing requirements.

Reflection:  

I would not want to be an acupuncturist since this a really old healing method and as time goes they make newer and easier methods. So slowly they would lose their earning. I also wouldn’t want to be one because I don’t feel I would be responsible enough to be poking people with needles, I would not want to mess up. That is why I would not like to be an acupuncturist. 

Acupressure

Acupressure

Duties and responsibilities:

                An alternative medicine technique similar to acupuncture. They treat, by adding physical pressure to certain points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure is applied by hand, elbow or with various devices.  Acupressure may be effective at helping manage nausea and vomiting, for helping lower back pain, tension headaches, and stomach ache.

Salary:

 Around $35,970.

Education:

3- 4 year program of graduate- level programs in Traditional Chinese Medicine. (TCM)

Reflection:

            Acupressure would not be one of my career choices. I do not like the process at all. I find the job very boring. My career has to be fun because I will be doing that for the rest of my life so better love my job. That is why I would not want to work doing acupressure. 

                          Psychiatrist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in the problems of mental illness. As physicians, they are licensed to use a wide variety of treatment sand may write prescriptions. Psychiatrists may work for the government, have their own private practice, or work in hospitals, clinics or universities. Their duties include:

·         Designing treatment programs.

·         Conducting psychotherapy sessions.

·         Prescribing potent mental illness drugs.

·         Conducting research.

·         Leading a team of mental health care providers.

Average Salary: $90,000 - $200,000

Educational Requirements: Bachelors, Masters, Ph. D, degrees 

In addition to completing the requirements for a degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine, psychiatrists must complete an intensive three year residency in psychiatry.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

            I would not want to become a psychiatrist because I have problems with talking to new people it takes me a while to adjust to new people. I am not really a talker I have issues with talking to new people.

Monson what I think it means is it’s the way of life. you make your decisions and if your determined to do it you will go through whatever it is to reach that goal and that is where the destiny goes. Depending on your decision you choose you own destiny. For example if you have a decision to go to school and actually do well and you are determined you will do that setting your destiny to go to college and be something.
