  In this quote by Dale Murphy, one can say that what matters most about a person is their character. Someone could be the richest person alive but with a horrible character really no one would want to surround themselves around that person simply because they have a horrible character. Another example is if someone was really extremely good looking but just has a horrible character no one would like to date them because of their horrible character. So having a great character matters the most.
